Trinity Day School is structured to develop all facets of a child: spiritual, social, cognitive, physical and emotional. Our goal is to create a climate of understanding, friendliness, and respectfulness in which your child can learn and grow. Our curriculum is theme-based and offers a variety of activities at each age level to encourage socialization and stimulate curiosity and creativity. Each unit promotes language, math and reading readiness skills through a balance of structured and free choice activities. Opportunities will exist for your child to work in groups and individually, and we seek to blend new learning experiences with those your child already brings from home. Units of study this year will include Beginning Together, Celebrate Me, Growing, Families, Friends, Cycles, My World, Constructions and Going Places. We believe that a child’s play is a child’s work. Children will learn pre-math, pre-reading and socialization skills through learning centers that include: |

| Other activities will include cooking experiences, field trips and resource speakers. Because much of your child’s learning will be done in centers, there may not be many papers or projects sent home in a given week. This should not be equated with a lack of instruction. Our teachers work hard to plan activities that make learning a fun, engaging process, and your children will be busy exploring, growing and enjoying school. | |||||||||||||||||||||||

Reading: In the 4 and 5 year old classes, particular attention is paid to reading readiness, and the Lipincott reading program is used for phonics instruction and comprehension. Children are also taught pre-reading and reading skills through quality children’s literature. P.E. : This year we’ll be offering a Movement Lab every other week for each of our classes. The children will participate in various games and activities designed to enhance their gross motor skills. Music: The students at Trinity Day School (3, 4 and 5 year olds) will attend Music class every week. The children learn songs, play instruments and take part in both a Christmas and End-of-the-Year program. Two year olds will have music experiences in their classroom. Computer: Every other week, with a parent volunteer, the children will get to interact with age-appropriate software. Religion: As a Christian Day School, we provide regular, non-denominational religious teachings. Children are taught that God plays a part in every aspect of our lives and that He is there for comfort as well as guidance. The Bible is used as a source for stories, songs and daily living, and the children will learn Bible verses monthly that relate to the unit of study being taught. Chapel is held weekly for 3, 4 and 5 year old classes. The goal of Chapel is to help the children gain a clearer understanding of God and their relationship with Him. Religious songs are part of our Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter celebrations. A short prayer is said before snack and lunch each day. Service: Trinity Day School is a ministry of Trinity United Methodist Church, and we believe it is important to teach children about service to others. Each month, we will participate in a service project that provides outreach to our community. Some examples include a canned food drive, collecting school supplies for United Ministries and making cards for shut-in members of the church. |
